Position Overview
MNGLCA is seeking a dynamic, organized professional to serve as the Event Coordination & Communications Contractor. This integrated role is essential to MNGLCA's mission, combining hands-on event management with strategic communications and educational media production. You'll coordinate signature events like the MNGLCA annual Grazing School and field days, while also managing a digital presence, newsletters, video production, and member communications.
Required Qualifications
- Event management experience with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple events simultaneously
- Strong communications skills including writing, social media management, and digital content creation
- Website management experience (content updates, basic maintenance)
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Relationship-building abilities and comfort working with diverse stakeholders
- Valid driver's license
- Willingness to travel statewide, including occasional overnight trips
- Ability to work independently as a contractor
- Proficiency with social media platforms, newsletter tools, and basic design software
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to pull the MNGLCA event trailer with their own vehicle
- Video production experience including filming, editing, and post-production
- Knowledge of agriculture, grazing practices, or conservation
- Experience with agricultural education or rural communications
- Graphic design skills
- Experience with budget management
- Familiarity with Minnesota's agricultural community
Key Responsibilities
Event Coordination (≈20 hrs/week)
- Plan and execute the annual Grazing School
- Organize 20+ field days throughout the year
- Develop and manage event budgets
- Provide on-site event coordination and logistics support
- Develop and coordinate the MNGLCA Grazing Mentor Network
- Capture event photographs and upload to website
- Submit detailed event reports including attendance, finances, and outcomes
Communications & Education (≈10 hrs/week)
- Produce 6 "Tools of the Trade" educational videos (farm visits, filming, editing, posting)
- Create and distribute quarterly newsletters (digital and print)
- Create and post weekly content across all social media platforms
- Produce 1 farmer spotlight video and 1 fact sheet or infographic
- Maintain and update the MNGLCA website weekly with current events, resources, and announcements
Collaboration
- Coordinate closely with the Development & Partnerships Contractor on sponsorships, grant reporting, and fundraising communications
- Participate in monthly MNGLCA Board/Team coordination meetings
- Support the MNGLCA Annual Meeting (February 2026)
- Provide regular progress reports and updates
